Pudong (PVG) is a different airport from Hongqiao (SHA). They are around 45 km apart — check your ticket for the three-letter code.
About Shanghai Pudong
Terminals: Two main terminals (T1 and T2) plus a satellite concourse.
Getting to the city: Linked to the city by metro and the Maglev train to Longyang Road, as well as taxis and pre-booked cars.
Good to know
- Most long-haul international arrivals into Shanghai use Pudong.
- Satellite gates can add walking or shuttle time to your journey.
- If your onward flight leaves from Hongqiao (SHA), you will need to change airports — this is not a same-airport connection.

Shanghai Pudong FAQs
Is Pudong the same as Hongqiao?
No. They are two separate airports in Shanghai. Pudong (PVG) handles most long-haul international flights; Hongqiao (SHA) is mainly domestic and regional.
Can you help if I fly into Pudong and out of Hongqiao?
Changing airports needs a separate arrangement. Please send us an enquiry with both flights and we'll tell you what we can arrange.
